PIXELS By Mike Manor
Mike Manor is an animator best known for his pixel animations of hip hop songs, interviews, and moments from popular culture. By juxtaposing iconic scenes in cinema and music that would not otherwise be viewed side by side, Manor’s practice uses humor to guide the viewer towards an appreciation of the personalities and artistic intention behind the music they enjoy. Through merging traditional pixel animation techniques with contemporary digital animation practices, Manor brings a contemporary feeling to pixel art, which often is misconceived as a “low-brow” animation style.
